Shocking footage of the moment a burglar slowly crawls into the bedroom of a two-year-old boy and looks towards the crib has been caught on CCTV.
Oliver Wallace, an HR consultant from Warlingham, Surrey, lives with his wife Sally and two-year-old son Sam.
He said that during the raid two burglars stole jewellery that belonged to his wife’s mother, who died in a car crash in 2011.
Mr Wallace watched the shocking offence unfold live on his phone while he was in a pub in Stockwell, London, on Wednesday November 7.
He was with his brother at the bar when his phoned bleeped at around 7.45pm.
Mr Wallace said: ‘I was on my way home, and I was coming through central London and contacted my brother to see if he wanted to meet for a drink.
‘I met him for a drink in a pub in Stockwell, as we are getting the drinks my phone bleeps. We have this camera in my baby Sam’s bedroom.
‘It said “motion in the room”, but normally I sort of ignore it, as we are always in and it’s only us.
‘To my horror, someone was in the house. Within a minute I had phoned 999, and told them a burglary was in progress and they took the details.’
Oliver Wallace watched on his phone from the pub as a woman crawled through his son’s room
The woman is seen looking towards two-year-old Sam’s crib as she slowly moves in the room
Mr Wallace’s wife and son had left for Florida that morning for a few days, and the house was empty at the time of the offence.
He said: ‘I reckon it’s over a year since we have both been out at 7..45pm, unless we have been on holiday. It’s really, really unusual that we would ever ever be out.
‘I saw this person crawling into the room. When you first see it it doesn’t make sense.
‘For a few seconds you just don’t understand what you are looking at, it’s your house and there is a woman crawling in to the room.
Mr Wallace says his son had slept in the bed in the morning of the incident.
He said: ‘On a normal night, he would have definitely been asleep in the bed.
Mr Wallace said jewellery that belonged to his wife’s mother was taken from his Surrey home
‘All I want to do is protect my family, and you feel like you have failed as someone has not only got into your house, they have got into your babies bedroom.’
Surrey police said: ‘We are appealing for witnesses and information after a property in Warlingham was burgled on Wednesday night.
‘The suspects gained access through an insecure patio door, and then proceeded to search the house, stealing a number of items, including items of jewellery.
‘One offender can be clearly see in the footage, and is described as female, white with long blonde hair, wearing a hooded top and jogging bottoms.’
